Units of Measure

Overview

Sell products in one unit (e.g. carton of 24) while tracking inventory in another (e.g. individual bottle). NinoPOS handles the conversion automatically at sale time.

Step-by-Step Guide

1

Define Base Unit

Products → Units. The base unit is what you count in stock — usually the smallest sellable unit (bottle, kg, piece).

2

Define Sales Units

Per product, add additional units with a conversion factor. e.g. base = bottle, sales unit = carton, factor = 24.

3

Set Per-Unit Price

You can either: (a) price the base unit and let cartons auto-multiply, or (b) override carton price for volume discount.

4

Sell

At POS, pick the unit at line-add time. Inventory decrements correctly (sell 1 carton → stock drops by 24 bottles).

Tips & Best Practices

Tip: For deli / butcher / hardware sold by weight or length, base unit = kg or m, sales unit can be the same or fractional.
Tip: GRN respects supplier units too: receive 100 cartons → inventory adds 2,400 bottles automatically.
