Overview

Sell non-stock services (consulting hours, repairs, installation fees, delivery charges) without inventory tracking. Services appear on receipts/invoices like products but don't decrement stock.

Step-by-Step Guide

Create Service Product

Products → New Product. In Type, pick Service instead of "Inventory Item".

Set Price

Per-unit price (per hour, per repair, per delivery, etc.). VAT rate applies as normal.

Add to Cart Normally

At POS, search by name or scan a barcode you printed for the service. No stock check happens — it's always sellable.

Track Provider

Optional: assign a staff member per line (the technician/consultant who delivered the service). Feeds the Staff Performance report.

Tips & Best Practices

Tip: For tradespeople (electricians, plumbers): pair Service items with the Quotations workflow — quote a job, convert to invoice, line items show both parts (inventory) AND labour (services).
Tip: Set up "Delivery Fee" as a service to capture a separate revenue line for last-mile — auto-suggested at checkout for storefront orders past a distance threshold.
