POS Keyboard Shortcuts

Overview

Cashier hotkeys for the POS screen — designed for fast checkout without lifting hands from the keyboard.

Step-by-Step Guide

Focus Barcode/Search

F2 jumps focus to the product search/barcode input from anywhere on the POS.

Pay & Complete

F9 or Ctrl + Enter opens the payment modal with the current cart total preselected.

Hold Sale

F4 parks the current cart so you can serve another customer. Recall held sales with F5.

Apply Discount

F8 opens the discount panel — fixed amount or percentage.

Clear Cart

Esc with cart focused asks for confirmation, then clears.

Customer

F3 attaches a customer to the sale (or creates a new one inline).

Tips & Best Practices

Tip: Train new cashiers on F2 + F9 first — those two cover ~90% of cash sales.
Tip: A USB barcode scanner sends keypress events directly into the focused input. F2 guarantees scans always go to the cart.
