Barcode Scanning

Overview

Use any USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner with ninoPOS POS — scans land directly in the product-search box and add to cart instantly. No driver install, no proprietary hardware required.

Step-by-Step Guide

1

Plug In Scanner

USB scanners are HID keyboard-class devices — plug in and they work. Bluetooth scanners pair via the OS settings (no app needed).

2

Focus the Search Field

On POS, press F2 to focus the product search input. The scanner sends keypresses into whatever input is focused.

3

Scan

Aim at the barcode and pull the trigger. The product appears in the search results — Enter adds to cart, or some scanners auto-Enter.

4

Map Custom SKUs

If your products use internal SKUs rather than GTIN/EAN, set the product's barcode field to your SKU. The scan-to-cart flow matches on this field.

Tips & Best Practices

Tip: A wireless scanner with a 10m range is the single biggest cashier productivity win for retail — pays for itself in a week.
Tip: Test scan accuracy on the actual product before bulk-tagging — some thermal-printed labels degrade under fluorescent lighting and need a higher-res print.
